Here is a tantalizing piece of news from Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun, reporting that Casio has created a fuel cell that can run up to 20 hours on a single charge (earlier Casio prototype shown here).

To accomplish the feat, Casio reportedly used solid polymer fuel cells, making the device 90% smaller than any of its predecessors. The Casio six-second reformer does its work by extracting hydrogen from ethanol. The company says we’ll see a prototype, perhaps powering a notebook PC, within a year.
