I’ve heard that Italy is a lovely country, but instead of just visiting one day, I’ve found a good reason to up and move there. Instead of shaving meat off a rotating spit into a pita, they’ve created ChocoKebabs—fresh crepes with shavings of striped chocolate from what has to be the most appetizing barber pole I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a savory shaved meat concoction as much as the next guy too lazy to cook dinner. But given the choice between a hunk of lamb that’s been slowly spinning all day, and this chocolate creation, I’m starting with dessert—and probably also finishing with dessert too. Because it’s not just shaved chocolate, the crepe also gets topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and everything else a growing boy needs. There are plenty of state fairs that like to boast about their fried this and that, but you’re gonna have to do a lot better than covering a stick of butter in deep fried batter to keep me on this continent.
