Digital DJ Hip Pack

A problem experienced by many portable digital audio device owners (I won’t say iPod, even if it is the undisputed market leader, cause everybody has different tastes and I aim to be sensitive, even to iPod haters and people who say I abuse italics) is the, “where the hell do I put this thing?” conundrum. Said conundrum is especially vexing for people like me, who abhor earbuds of all shapes and sizes and would rather listen through a pair of full-size headphones. Unfortunately, full-size headphones aren’t exactly practical for portable applications. Enter the Digital DJ from bagmaker Timbuk2, which claims to provide enough space for your player, a nice big pair of “don’t bug me” headphones, plus a few other personal items as the wearer wishes. The asking price of $50 seemed a little steep to me for what amounts to a glorified version of the hip packs worn by porky white tourists at Disney World throughout the 1980s, until I realized it wasn’t actually a hip pack, it’s a lifestyle accessory, and that makes all the difference in the world. That and the ballistic nylon.
