A new DVD player from Danish company KiSS Technology that can play video files encoded in the DivX format. Why is this a big deal, you might ask? First of all the DivX codec can compress video up to ten times smaller than MPEG-2 (which is used for DVD), with no loss in quality. That means that a regular DVD could potentially hold ten times the video that it does now. But what people are really going to want a DivX-enabled DVD player for is to watch all those movies and TV shows they’re downloading off of the Internet that are compressed using DivX.
