Incredible movies and creator content have never been easier to shoot.

DJI and Amazon really want you to jump into the content creator and influencer biz, it seems. Why else would they keep dropping the price of the best-selling DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo to new record lows? The latest record — $499, a steep 21% drop from the regular retail $629.

The Creator Combo is the configuration worth buying if you’re serious about the Osmo Pocket 3 at all, because it bundles in the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter alongside the battery handle and mini tripod. At full price, that wireless mic transmitter runs around $100 on its own. Now it’s on the house.

Peak Stabilization

The Osmo Pocket 3 is a gimbal camera, which means the stabilization is mechanical rather than software-based. A 3-axis gimbal physically moves the lens to compensate for hand movement, and the results hold up in situations where digital stabilization tends to fall apart: walking shots, low-light handheld footage, anything where you need the image to stay locked without losing resolution or introducing the warping that crops up with aggressive electronic stabilization. The 1-inch CMOS sensor is the other major selling point here. A 1-inch sensor captures significantly more light than the smaller sensors found in most compact cameras and smartphones, which matters most when you’re shooting indoors, at dawn, or anywhere else the light isn’t cooperating.

The Mic 2 Transmitter in the Creator Combo connects wirelessly to the Osmo Pocket 3, and the camera can handle two transmitters simultaneously, which is useful for interviews or any two-person shoot where you need clean audio from both subjects. The Osmo Pocket 3 also supports direct connection to DJI Mic Mini transmitters. The built-in stereo recording is fine for casual use, but having a clip-on wireless transmitter as part of the bundle takes the audio from acceptable to professional, and that distinction tends to matter more than most buyers expect when they’re editing.

Shoot for Any Platform

The 2-inch touchscreen rotates to support both horizontal and vertical framing, which covers the full range of platforms content creators are actually publishing to. ActiveTrack 6.0 handles subject tracking, and the fast autofocus system keeps subjects sharp during movement. The form factor is compact enough to fit in a jacket pocket, which is either a feature or a footnote depending on whether portability matters to your workflow.

At its new record-low $499 Amazon price, the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo moves away from being an impulse buy and squarely into a sensible investment that will last years. The 1-inch sensor, mechanical stabilization, and bundled wireless mic cover the three areas where most entry-level video setups fall short, and DJI’s build quality on the Pocket line has been consistent. If you’ve been waiting for the price to justify the investment, this is the best window yet.
