Looks like J.K. Rowling is planning on giving everyone a treat this Halloween. The author has announced on Pottermore.com that she will release a new short story that will detail the life of everyone’s least favorite Hogwarts teacher, Dolores Umbridge.
Given how many Hogwarts teachers were outright servants of Voldemort, that’s saying something. According to Pottermore, “The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700-word back story about Umbridge’s life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling’s revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character,” It should also be available on Halloween day.
I’m curious to see if the story will try to explain Umbridge’s hateful ways — or even make us sympathize her. Is that possible?
