E3: Nintendo Press Event, Live: Revolution

Reading time 1 minute

13:20 EST – The Revolution being shown off is just a prototype. It’s supposed to be smaller. 12cm discs, like Gamecube, and it will be backwards compatible. 512MB of “onboard flash memory” (for saving games, I think). New DRM system, too, which sounds craptacular, but who knows what they’re even talking about.

They’re talking about controller or something. My battery is about to die and I’ve got to go do a radio show called ‘Air Talk’ here in LA in 10 minutes. Better hurry up, Nintendo.

13:25 EST – Smash Bros. online multiplayer, fanboys flip. Next-gen Mario and Zelda and Metroid on the way. Durrrr.

13:28 EST – Oooh, It’s Brian from Kotaku. I’ve killed Joel and have taken over the ship. The Revolution will accept GameCube discs, and will also be ab le to download “20 years of Nintendo content.” They are calling it a virtual console.

13:33 EST – George Harrison just took the stage to talk about new gaming experiences for this year. He’s showing some nice video for Battalion Wars, a third-person strategy game. Oh God, not another Pokemon game. Pokemon XD, is a 3D Pokemon game. Bleh. Mario’s got four new games coming: Mario Baseball, Super Mario Strikers, Mario Party 7 (with 80 new mini games and an 8-player mode.) and finally, Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix.

13:40 EST – Here comes the Zelda trailer. I think the guy next to me just wet himself. Wow, just amazing graphics and a very dark, new look. Legend of Zelda Twighlight Princess’s video is going to be given to all of the press on a Nintedo DS card. Sweet.
