We don’t normally get down to motherboards around here, mostly because there are dozens of web sites who live for that sort of thing and could tell you the difference between a resistor and a capacitor (hint: both respond poorly to gunfire). The new ECS RS480-M is an exception, packing the new ATI RS480 chipset, which means that this particular motherboard has a built-in Radeon 9600-class video card right on the greenboard. That makes it effectively the fastest on-board video solution available.
Nvidia has been doing quality chipsets for a while, so it’ll be interesting to see what ATi brings to the table. And since this board is from ECS, it’s won’t be that expensive to try out. Plus it has a PCI Express x16 slot, so when the 9600 starts to show its age in a few weeks, you’ll be able to upgrade easily.
