Trusted Reviews has a preview of the Elonex Media Center, and it looks like a hot ticket, if wall-mountable 32inch widescreen LCD monitors with fully-integrated PC hardware is your trip. The Elonex prototype runs Microsoft Media Center platform with built-in Ethernet and WiFi, and while not everything was spit shined yet (the speakers, for instance, sound a bit drab), Elonex is sure to add all the requisite polish before selling the good-looking machines. Also interesting is Elonex’s partnership with a company called Abrocour (Suggested word: Atrocious), a home-networking outfit that works with new home builders to install an all-in-one WiFi/Alarm/ADSL systems which can, presumably, all be controlled via a software interface on the Elonex unit. I’m looking forward to the day when PCs and TVs merge as ‘smart displays’ so I can stop jerry-rigging projectors and TVs to media center PCs and laptops just to do simple things like browse the web or stream video.
