EO Tech’s Velahn Tube Earphones

Lots of audiophiles claim that tubes provide a “richer” audio experience than their solid state counterparts, but I don’t think this is what they had in mind. These earbuds from Korea feature an interesting design in which a plastic protrusion (the tube) sits in the ear canal, supposedly creating a richer sound through some scientific principle or another, which I imagine utilizes phrases like ‘harmonic resonance’ and ‘vibratory magicalness’. Specifically, it’s supposed to provide a little extra punch in the lower frequencies, which is a common request of earbuds (hey, it’s not easy to get low frequencies out of tiny little speakers). There’s a lot of good joke material here about expanded bottom-ends, but unfortunately Threebase beat me to it.
