How do you keep a table full of hungry kids distracted while dinner still has a few minutes to go in the oven? Easy, you ask Danish designer Benjamin Nordsmark to build you one of his wonderfully complex Labyrinth tables featuring six tiny figures trapped inside that can be steered through the maze using magnetic paddles underneath it.
The glass-topped table is built with a strong steel core so it can easily support a heavy Thanksgiving spread, but that’s hidden behind veneers of more visually-appealing maple wood that’s also used for the walls of the actual maze inside. The six tiny figures doomed to spend the rest of their lives exploring its corridors can be maneuvred using magnetic paddles placed on the underside of the table, and pretending one of them is a Minotaur hunting for intruders can only serve to make this creation even more entertaining.
