Apple just announced FaceTime for Mac, allowing people to videochat with iPhone 4 and iPod Touch users right from their computer. You can download a beta version today.
Putting FaceTime on Macs always seemed like an inevitability, so there's not much of a surprise here. You can pick any of your contacts—be they on Macs, iPhone 4s or iPod Touches—and video chat with them just like you'd expect.

There's not much to it—even Steve himself said the demo was a short one. One interesting bit to note is that FaceTime isn't baked into iChat, it's its own app. Because people don't wanna TYPE in the future.
