Filming has begun for Paul Feig’s upcoming Ghostbusters movie, with Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as the new proton pack-wielding foursome. And the first photos offer a few clues to what kinds of characters these ladies will be playing.

Collider points us to a few set pictures that have gone out over Twitter. We’ve got Wiig looking prim (at least for this scene) in her suit and bangs:

Meanwhile, McCarthy’s more casual, but still put together in her sweater and jeans, and McKinnon... whoa. That is a look. As our own Katharine Trendacosta noted upon seeing this photo, McKinnon looks like she stepped right out of the cartoon — especially with that hair:

Wiig and McCarthy’s looks make sense in the context of the latest synopsis:

Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.

Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

We can’t wait to see what wardrobe has cooked up for Jones.

McKinnon looks a little unhinged. I like it.

Glad to see that it looks like Melissa may be a bit more conservative in this one. I’m kind of sick of her as a boorish loudmouth. It’d be great to see her as the straight-woman rather than the punchline.
