A standard desktop tower takes up a significant chunk of desk space, requires separate speakers, and usually costs more than what most people need for everyday computing. The GMKtec Nucbox G3 Pro fits everything a desktop does into a box smaller than a paperback book, and Amazon currently has it at $259, down from its regular $329, which puts a full Windows 11 Pro machine with an Intel Core i3-10110U, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, WiFi 6, and dual 4K HDMI output well below what most entry-level desktop towers cost without a monitor.

The Core i3-10110U boosts to 4.1GHz with Hyper-Threading across two cores and four threads, which handles web browsing, office applications, video streaming, light photo editing, and multitasking without the sluggishness that entry-level processors introduce at lower clock speeds. The 8GB of DDR4 RAM in dual-channel configuration keeps multiple apps open simultaneously without slowdown, and the 256GB NVMe SSD boots Windows in seconds and transfers files quickly. A secondary M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe slot is available for storage expansion, which means you are not permanently limited to 256GB if your needs grow.

Two HDMI 2.0 ports output to two 4K displays at 60Hz simultaneously, which turns this pocket-sized machine into a dual-monitor workstation that would cost two to three times as much in a traditional desktop format. Four USB 3.2 ports at up to 5Gbps each handle peripherals, external drives, and accessories without a hub. The Intel i226 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet delivers network speeds up to 2.5 times faster than standard Gigabit, which matters for large file transfers and is the specification that makes this machine useful as a home server or NAS client. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 cover wireless connectivity for the rest.

The upgraded cooling fan and thermal paste keep the machine quiet under load, which is the detail that separates a mini PC worth living with from one that sounds like a hair dryer when it is working. Wake On LAN, PXE Boot, RTC Wake, and Auto Power On make it viable as a always-on home server or media center without requiring manual intervention every time it needs to start up. Linux, Proxmox, Ubuntu, and VMware ESXi compatibility extends its use beyond Windows for anyone running a homelab or firewall setup.

A comparable entry-level desktop tower from HP or Dell with similar specs typically runs $400 to $600 before adding WiFi and without the 2.5GbE Ethernet. The Nucbox G3 Pro at $259 undercuts that range while adding dual 4K output, faster networking, and a form factor that mounts behind a monitor with a VESA bracket and disappears entirely.
