Linksys’ inexpensive networking equipment is pretty popular, but almost anyone who has had to deal with their tech support knows just how ineffectual they are if you have any major problems. I actually once had a tech support guy hang up on me when I called regarding some trouble I was having setting up my Linksys router, and when I called back another tech support guy told me to just return the router and buy someone else’s. After giving up on actually getting any assistance from tech support, I figured out to do it myself after much trial and error, and I’ve never had a single problem since. The equipment itself is actually pretty solid, it’s just getting it up and running that can be a pain. Anyway, if you’re thinking about using Linksys equipment to set up a home or small office network, you might want to save yourself a lot of trouble (and time spent on hold) and invest in a new book called Linksys Networks: The Official Guide since no one at at the company will be of any use to you should you encounter any difficulties.
