‘Training with virtual partners’ isn’t just a euphemism for internet porn anymore, as Garmin’s Forerunner 201 opens up the concept to athletes with a wrist-mounted personal training device with integrated GPS. After setting your virtual partner’s pace and distance, the digital display keeps track of your pace, showing how well you’re doing in the race against your pixelated foe. Other features include a ‘calories burned’ counter, lap timers, and pace whistles, as well as a method to download personal statistics onto your home PC. It’s not too pricey, either, with a street price of around $125.
