At this year’s Game Developers’ Conference, Microsoft unveiled not only their new ‘XNA’ platform, designed to aid game developers in porting their software between the Xbox 2, PCs, and mobile devices, but also showed some of the first reference videos for the upcoming Xbox 2. In addition, Microsoft spoke of plans to push Xbox Live services over to the PC, further blurring the line between console and PC gaming.
In addition, JAMDAT signed a deal to bring three Xbox titles to Windows Mobile Smartphone devices. Since 3D on mobiles is still rudimentary at best, don’t expect these games to look anything like their Xbox versions. Still, take this as the first sign of continuing cross-platform pollinization for Microsoft.
