Gizmodo Is Hiring a Senior Consumer Tech Reporter

By Rose Pastore

Gizmodo—a tech, science, and pop culture news site founded in 2002—is hiring a senior reporter to join our NYC-based newsroom.

Gizmodo is looking for an experienced writer with a passion for the technology consumers are using every day. As a senior consumer tech reporter at Gizmodo, you’ll be checking out the latest gadgets, covering breaking news, writing reviews, and helping build Gizmodo’s consumer tech program. The ideal candidate should know the major players in consumer technology, have a strong voice and point of view, and a willingness to call out companies when their tech hurts consumers more than helps them. Candidates should already have a roster of contacts at the major companies and truly love the technology they cover.

What You’ll Do

  • Write reviews weekly and cover the news on your beat daily
  • Create and maintain guides to help readers get the most from their tech
  • Lead coverage for your beat not just at Gizmodo but in the industry
  • Be able to articulate and quickly write about the major moments and trends on your beat
  • Be a mentor in the newsroom
  • Attend conferences and briefings and turn stories around quickly

Who You Are

  • You are an experienced writer and reviewer with established contacts on your beat
  • You have a passion for working on a small team and doing big things
  • You can write a big review one day and switch to a feature the next, all while maintaining necessary coverage on your beat
  • You know the most important companies and technologies to follow on your beat
  • You love working in a fast-moving environment with a committed team
  • You don’t mince words and have a command of tone.
