To celebrate the sale of one million YP-Z5s, Samsung has created ten special editions of the player that are gilded in 18K gold. The newly golden digital audio players will hit the auction block in Japan (we think—machine translation stinks) where the lucky winners gets to take home the DAP. Samsung even coated the box in gold. Crazy!

Also of note is the the Z5 was designed by Paul Mercer, credited with designing the iPod’s interface. As such, the gold-plated player will feature his signature. The player should fetch just over $1,000. Too bad it’s only so-so.
