Google just released a report today showing just how many links the search giant rips down from its searches a month because of copyright complaints and it's a doozy: 1.2 million a month. That comes from over a 1,000 copyright owners who've targeted 25,000 web sites.

What's especially interesting is that, according to Google, "these days it's not unusual for us to receive more than 250,000 requests each week, which is more than what copyright owners asked us to remove in all of 2009." According to Google's stats for the past month, the most frequent reporting organizations range from Marketly llc and NBC Universal, the most popular copyright owners are Microsoft and NBC Universal and the top targeted web sites come from filestube.com and torrentz.eu.
