GPX is launching this new over-the-shoulder SportX headset MP3 player which uses TransFlash memory cards for storage. The downside of that decision is that the SportX HW6805DT will be somewhat limited in the size of TransFlash cards, which currently only go up to around 512MB. The upside is that TransFlash is small, making the headset even lighter than if it used SD. Plus, as David Chait points out, since many MP3-playing phones use TransFlash, you’ll be able to pop out the card from your phone and put it into the SportX.
The 128MB model is listed for pre-order for $80, and larger capacities are set to follow. Oh, and it has an FM radio tuner.
