Ever played a game like Halo or Call of Duty and thought, “Why don’t they just make movies like this? First person action films where you can do or kill any and everything?” Well, now they have. It’s called Hardcore Henry.
Produced by and co-starring District 9 star Sharlto Copley, Hardcore Henry opens in theaters April 8. As the audience, you’re Henry, a mysterious man who has been fitted with some kind of cyborg parts and superhuman abilities. You’re then forced to go on the run and solve the mystery of how it all happened. That’s going to require you to kill a whole lot of people in a whole bunch of different ways. For 90 minutes, Hardcore Henry pretty much doesn’t stop, and this trailer is just the half of it.
Directed by Ilya Naishuller, Hardcore Henry had its premiere last year at the Toronto International Film Festival (under its original title, Hardcore) and it’ll play South by Southwest in March before the April 8 release.
It’s one of those movies that, love it or hate it, you are absolutely dumbfounded that the filmmakers were able to execute the idea in such a seamless, impressive way.
