Hurricane Sandy flipped off the power for literally millions of people in the Northeast. The thought alone is crazy, but its even more staggering when you see what it looked like from space.

This image from a NASA/NOAA satellite’s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) shows light in the region before and after the hurricane. Most of New Jersey is completely black—yet another incredible visual reminder of just how badly Sandy screwed everything up. [BuzzFeed]
