Lex Luthor is just a man. A brilliant man, but a man nevertheless. If he’s going to team up with his arch-nemesis, Superman, to fight the deadly Brainiac, he’s going to need some help. He’s going to need a super suit. And holy crap, that super suit looks awesome.
Last year, DC Studios co-president and filmmaker James Gunn revealed that his next film would be Man of Tomorrow starring David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The news broke with original art of Superman and Lex side-by-side, with Lex in an elaborate green suit that brought to mind the Hammer of Boravia character Lex created in the first film. But that was months ago and Gunn and team are now actually filming, so the director decided to drop this.

And here it is so you can blow it up.

A few things come to mind here. First, it’s very cool that it’s actually Nicholas Hoult in the suit. Clearly, there will be different suits for different scenes, and some will be recreated in CGI. But that there is a suit he can wear, and it looks that good, is very exciting.
Second, is this a set that’s being used in the film? It could just be an area where Gunn thought he’d get some cool lighting, but look at the shadows. Why are there lines there? Are those bars? Is Lex’s jail like a beach? And, if he is in a cell, why is he allowed to have the suit on? We don’t know.
With filming now underway on Man of Tomorrow, expect many more images to get out, especially if Gunn and crew choose to film outside as they did on the previous film. And, we think it’s safe to start getting excited for next summer when Man of Tomorrow hits theaters.
The DC Universe continues later this month when Supergirl comes to theaters on June 26. Lanterns follows in August and Man of Tomorrow is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027.
