If there’s one thing we can say about Sony, it’s that they’re not entirely against people modding up their gear. That is, if you don’t count them forcing Lik-Sang out of business. So if you’ve been a bad boy present-peeker and know you’re getting one of these Sony HDR-SR1 hard drive camcorders for Xmas, you’ll be pleased to note that the only thing stopping you from upgrading the 30GB 1.8-inch HD to a 80GB 1.8-inch HD is a single screw.

The only problem after you take out the screw and slide out the plastic coverings is finding a suitable 1.8-inch HD. We see some 80GB HDs floating around for about two hundred bones.
