When HTC unveiled its iPhone-like One A9 last week, one of its most attractive features was its cost. But while the $400 price tag may seem tempting, in reality that deal is only available until November 7th—after that date, the price will jump up by $100.
HTC had seemed to suggest that the sleek phone was set to retail at $400 indefinitely. But it turns out that was in fact a “special promotional pre-sale” for online orders and some retail outlets. As of November 7th at 12:01AM, reports Slashgear, HTC will be selling the phone for $500. Here’s what HTC says themselves:
The cost of the HTC One A9 is the same worldwide to all distributors and operator partners. For end consumers, HTC’s sales regions are given the freedom to set prices and promotions as they see fit for local market needs. The One A9 price in the US is a very limited-time promotional offer for that region’s online store, as well as select HTC-only franchise stores. The offer is a special promotional pre-sale and is expected to conclude once the One A9 is available on-shelf at major retail and distributor partners.
Our own Adam Clark Estes noted last week that “with a stacked spec sheet and a $400 price tag, the HTC One A9 seems like a pretty fantastic deal after spending a few days with it.” Adding an extra $100 to the price detracts from that appeal somewhat.
So, if you’re tempted, it might pay to order one before November 7th.
