Hybrid Mobile XmDirect Tuner Interface Cable

XM Radio had quietly pulled its XM-to-PC interface off the market right before announcing its new music service that let subscribers listen to XM stations on their PCs (but not record anything). That put a real cramp in the plans of TimeTrax, the company (guy?) whose software allowed XM subscribers to record copies of songs to their hard drives. Now another company, called Hybrid Mobile Solutions, has announced a reverse-engineered version of XM’s old hardware called the “XmDirect Tuner Interface Cable,” which will allow XM users to connecting XM hardware to their PCs. It doesn’t currently work with TimeTrax, but Hybrid is apparently in discussions with the company to bring it all together. Ostensibly, the interface cable was designed to allow people who use PCs in their cars to integrate XM back into their PCs, but of course there’s nothing stopping home users from doing the same.
