Region-free DVD players, which allow you to watch any DVD no matter where in the world it was produced, used to be a troublesome item. Although a surprisingly large number of DVD players could be ‘unlocked,’ it often involved such risky endeavors as reflashing firmware or even some light soldering. Thankfully, this is no longer the case, and easily-unlocked region-free players can be had for as low as $100. J-List has a couple of cute Japanese players, great for watching imported anime or comedies that were not released in your country (where are my League of Gentlemen Season Two discs, BBC?)
