In the Future, We Will All Wear Fiber Optic Dresses

Designer Natalie Walsh says this design was inspired by seeing a “bloom of fiber optic jellyfish” at a festival. And that’s absolutely a style that you should aspire to.

The San Francisco-based artist first started by making a white dress with pouches to hide the handle of the outfit’s light source. The fiber optic cables were then attached to it, with the tops of the strands secured to the bodice in a way reminiscent of the boning of a corset. The ends were left free to create the swirling skirt.

As the wearer moves, the dress changes color and the light trails create the illusion of a full, aurora-like skirt. [My Modern Met]
