Iomega, most known for its once-popular Zip drives, has released a new product line, the Rev 35GB/90GB. Essentially a bigger, better Zip drive, the misleading name comes from the Rev’s capacity if the data is compressed—sort of like calling a 700MB CD a ‘Gigabyte Optical Medium’ because, you know, it could happen. Once again, the price is the killer: $400 for an external USB drive (with one included cartridge), with extra cartridges coming in at $60 a pop. PCWorld is dubious, but tentatively hopeful. I have no burden to be kind: this thing will flop like John Holmes on a dune buggy.
