iPhone 5s Are Out in the Wild—In Sealed Boxes?

There's no doubt that the iPhone 5 is coming soon-ish, so The Guardian's report that it's being field tested by upper brass make sense. That means they could be out there beside you now—but you'll have no idea.

Even if you're one of the elite few Apple and carrier execs who gets to open this entombed iPhone 5 inside a special laboratory, the phone itself is encased inside a dummy body, furthering the aesthetic mystery. This makes snooping and leaking very difficult, as you're not even sure what you really have your hands on—and that's okay, because Apple just wants to make sure the damn thing can catch a signal. This is also in line with the way Apple tried to conceal its imminent handset last time around, when it hid the iPhone 4 inside a 3GS case.
