Get those credit cards ready. Pre-orders for the iPhone 6 an the iPhone 6 Plus are now live, so you can snag the phone of your choice. Update: The store on Apple's website is still down but we just confirmed that you can, indeed, place your orders through the iOS app. The online Apple Store is now back up!

You can head over to Apple's official website to get your order in. Or, if you prefer, go to your carrier's website — AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile are all accepting pre-orders too.

Pricing starts at $199 for the iPhone 6 for the 16 GB base model and goes all the way to $399 for the 128 GB version (no 32 GB GB this time around) with a 2-year contract. The pricier iPhone 6 Plus will burn a $299 hole in your wallet for the 16 GB model with a 2-year contract. Contract-free options for both models start at $649 and $749 respectively.

If you still can't make up your mind about which version to buy, make sure you read our guide first!

Ed. note: When this post went live on Gizmodo, it claimed that iPhone preorders had begin. They were not. Running a post like that—one that is entirely wrong—is unacceptable, unfair to you. What's worse, it stayed up wrong for 10 minutes, far longer than it ever should have. I am embarrassed, and I am sorry. It won't happen again. — Brian
