Apple's filed a patent on their upcoming iPhone instant messaging app, detailing exactly what it's going to look like and how it's going to behave. While most of the images show an iChat-esque (and current SMS-like) interface, there are some interesting tidbits we picked up from the text. One, there's mention of "graphics, photos, audio files, video files and/or other attachments as are supported in a MMS and/or Enhanced Message Service," which points to possible MMS support in the future. At the very least, it might mean that their IM app will be able to transfer files. Two, there's also a reference to the user receiving "an instant message while the user of the device is in another application," alleviating fears that we wouldn't be able to IM in the background. Both these snippets are after the jump.

The other interesting thing we found was the illustration detailing what future modules the iPhone will have. Not only is there a GPS module (which may or may not be the current cellphone triangulation scheme that was added a few months back), but there's sample Search, Video Conferencing and Widget Creator modules. Widget Creator could just be the shortcut to Safari that Apple introduced in the last update, but Video Conferencing? Does that mean a front-mounted camera in the next iPhone? Who knows. Apple's thrown features into its patents that haven't materialized before.

MORE APPLE THUGGERY.

LOOK CLOSELY AT THESE DIAGRAMS.

HONESTLY, DO YOU SEE ANYTHING HERE THAT IS ORIGINAL ENOUGH TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL FOR ANYONE ELSE TO USE IT.

THESE FAT, DISGUSTING, PIGS HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN ABUSE OUR PATENT SYSTEM BY STEALING A BUNCH OF IDEAS FROM HONEST, HARD WORKING FOLK. THEN, THEY THINK THEY CAN TAKE THESE OPEN SOURCE RESOURCES MASH THEM INTO ONE CRAPPY DEVICE THEN USE A BLANKET PATENT TO TRY TO KEEP OTHERS FROM TRYING TO USE THE RESOURCE.

INTELLECTUAL TERRORISM. THESE GUYS ARE SO HUGE AND SO STUPID THEIR MOM'S HAD AN ORIGINAL IDEA WHEN SHE BIRTHED THEM, AND THEY HAD TO GO MESS THAT UP.

WHEN THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FINALLY TELLS THESE MISCREANTS THAT THEY NEED TO RELEASE THEIR CODE WE WILL ALL FIND OUT THAT MOST OF IT IS PLAGIARIZED ANYWAY.

EUROPE IS TRYING TO MAKE MICROSOFT RELEASE AN OPEN SOURCE SYSTEM, AND THEY ARE AFRAID TO DO IT.

APPLE SYSTEMS ARE 100 TIMES THE RIP OFF THAT AN MS SYSTEM IS. AND BE HONEST, CAUSE I HAPPEN TO KNOW, THEY CRASH JUST AS OFTEN. YES, THEY DO!

TRULY, IT TAKES 90 MINUTES TO GET A PHONE LINE INTO APPLECARE. IS THAT BECAUSE THE HELPDESKERS ARE ALL MACIN' OUT THEIR PEDICURES WITH LITTLE SHINY APPLE LOGOS?

NO! THEY'RE WORKING THEIR SHINY LITTLE ASSES OFF TRYING TO SAVE IRATE PEOPLE, WHO PAID WAY TOO MUCH FOR THEIR GEAR, FROM BANKRUPTCY. ONLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEIR DAINTY SENSIBILITIES LED THEM TO BUY SOMETHING PRETTY INSTEAD OF SOMETHING THAT WORKS.

THE MONEY GRUBBING SWINE MUST BE STOPPED.

LONG AND SHORT IS THAT IF THIS PATENT IS GRANTED IT IS AN INDICATION THAT OUR INFRASTRUCTURE IS DAMAGED. POSSIBLY BEYOND REPAIR. THE FACT THAT IT COSTS $865 TO FILE A PATENT REQUEST IS THE FIRST SIGN THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM, BECAUSE IT LOCKS OUT THE GARAGE INVENTOR FROM EVER BEING ABLE TO PROTECT THEIR IDEAS WITHOUT DEPLETING THE EMERGENCY FUND. A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH GOOD IDEAS DON'T BOTHER. IF YOU WANT TO HIRE THE RIGHT PATENT WRITER YOU COULD PATENT THE WHEEL OR GRAVITY. HOPEFULLY, THE USPTO WOULD NOT GRANT THESE PATENTS. HOPEFULLY, THEY WILL NOT GRANT THIS ONE EITHER.
