DISCUSSION

NZdave, please stop speculating like you know more about this product than the rest of us. Your reason for saying "it has be client-side" doesn't even hold up.

Even lowly me can come up with a quick solution on how to make this server side.

1. XML File with details of all voice mail available on the server.

2. iPhone reads the XML file at regular intervals when there is a connection to the network and inserts the caller ID as necessary.

The XML file contains "message IDs" which are unique. When you press to "listen" to your voice mail. All it will be doing is calling your voice mail number and passing the ID to the server. It then plays that message and hangs up.

Like is said before, I don't know much.. and I cant still get this to work on the network server... now if I were being paid as much as Apple engineers, I pretty sure I could come up with something even better!
