We mentioned some of the newer products from the (increasingly cool) iRiver line, but Gearbits brings us a little more information about the iMP-1100, the ‘Discman-style’ portable media player. With a 2 inch color screen, the iMP-1100 can play back DivX and other compressed video formats, although it isn’t clear if it has the ability to play DVDs (since it is not specifically listed, and all the compressed formats can fit onto a CD, I suspect not). The 2 inch screen (and lack of DVD) will nix it from most peoples’ buy lists, but eking that last bit of function out of an aging device style is something I can get behind (or at least get in front of and squint at).
