I’m sure its mostly the accompanying music and the scifi setting, but darned if this new trailer for SyFy’s Defiance series — airing next week — doesn’t seem to be extremely… Firefly-ish, to coin an adjective. I imagine that’s not unintentional. Besides, something tells me SyFy wouldn’t mind at all if viewers got confused and thought Defiance might be some kind of unauthorized Firefly spin-off.
I guess we’ll see when the pilot premieres next Monday, on the 15th. One other note: Wow, SyFy actually spent some money on this. When most of your TV movies star cheap CG monsters and cost about $10k to make, I suppose eventually you can afford to splurge a little.
