One of the iPhone’s cool tricks is how its screen can automatically rotate from portrait to landscape mode depending on how you hold it. But now it appears that the technology behind that tech wizardry belongs to the boys at Sony Ericsson. Back in Aug 2006, they were issued a patent on a technology that allowed a mobile phone’s screen to change orientation automatically. It doesn’t look like SE will follow in Cisco’s steps (especially since they haven’t said anything yet), but from the looks of the patent, it seems like they do have dibs on the technology.
