JVC Everio GZ-MC500

JVC’s new “Everio GZ-MC500” is the upper-level model of the “GZ-MC200,” released in November of last year. Changes include going from a single 2MP sensor to three 1.2MP sensors (called “3CCD”), and enhancing the “G” part of the “RGB.” This enables the MC500 to record images up to 5MP in size, versus the sub-MP resolution of the MC200. The design of the camera itself is now more “black,” too. The same interfaces appear on the new model — it still has the “CF Slot + (SD Memory Card x 2)” formula. Since the maximum hard drive size (in the CF slot) is 4GB, you’re sort of screwed out of that new 5MP resolution. [Actually, you should be able to take a ton of 5MP stills, which is what they’re talking about. -ed.]
