Kevin Smith’s horror movie Tusk is about an old man who kidnaps a younger man, drugs him, and then slowly turns him into a human walrus. But this idea didn’t just pop into Silent Bob’s head. First it was a real-life ad for a roommate, a listing so odd it inspired a horror movie.

Before filming an episode of his Smodcast, Smith had been tweeted an ad for a man looking for another male lodger, whose rent would be paid by wearing a walrus suit around the home for two hours a day. Smith recounts the whole podcast-to-film journey for Tusk in the above video, and it’s actually pretty great.
