L Hollywood GOLD Laptop

JOEL JOHNSON

L, the high-end PC company that was once thought (wrongly) by some to be nothing but a bilking operation, has announced a powerhouse laptop for those that find the Apple Powerbook to be very chic, but would prefer one without that pesky Mac operating system. The ‘Hollywood GOLD’ is a desktop machine wrapped in a trim black aluminum shell, with a laundry list of features that should incite lust in all but the most jaded (or frugal) consumers. Some of the more notable include a Intel P4 3.4GHz “Prescott” core, a 17″ 1440 x 900 widescreen display, 400MHz dual-channel DDR memory (up to 2GB), dual hard drives (that can support RAID 0/1), ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, DVD burner, built in camera, optional TV Tuner, and 6-in-one card reader.

If it sounds like there is everything you could possibly want in a machine, laptop or otherwise, you’re basically correct. And as soon as you free up between $3999 and $7179, I’m sure they’ll be happy to ship one out to you.

Update: Matt Kaufman wrote in to point out that the Hollywood Gold looks to be a suped-up Sager laptop. Sager makes many of laptops that later get rebranded and sold, most noteably by Alienware.
