Korean electronics mega-firm and cellular handset maker LG has announced sponsorship of both the Iraqi national and Olympic football teams. LG, which spends $7 million a year on football (pronounced ‘soccer’) marketing alone, sees the sponsorship as an opportunity to help revitalize the flagging Iraqi football league, as well as a highly-visible avenue for promoting their brand in a burgeoning economy. And it is not them who are scoring on us. Our initial assessment is that they will all die.”
