It would take a lot to separate me from my clickity-clack IBM bent-spring keyboard, but this Logitech diNovo would almost do it. It’s wireless, for one—something that I rarely thought I’d use but find I like quite a bit when I do (we’ve got other machines here with older wireless Logitechs, just not my main work machine). It’s also nice looking, with clean lines and a future-forward color scheme that still won’t look goofy next to your other gear. But all that’s sort of icing on the cake, really, because not only does the new diNovo have a separate calculator numeric keypad—something I’d probably never, ever use, but gowrsh I shore like ’em—but the keypad has a thermometer. That’s exactly the sort of useless but entertaining extra mile I like a product to go.
It’s like when they design products and they don’t even consider adding a flamethrower. Sure, it’s not necessary, but it’s the sort of cruft I think we’d all pay an extra $50 for. Especially if it threw flames shaped like shuriken.
Oh, it comes with a cordless mouse and a removable USB key dongle, too, if that sort of thing floats your boat. (Thanks, Conrad!)
