I still don’t have an automotive GPS sytem, but the newly-shipping iWay 500C from Lowrance (previously known mostly for boating and aviation type GPS devices) gives me a strong desire to give the automotive GPS idea some more thought. It can be had for as little as $800, so isn’t the cheapest one around—competing models can be priced below $500— but the 500C’s feature and accessory set is a fair bit juicier than what you might find in the sub-$1000 range from, say, Garmin, what with the 20GB hard drive, built-in mp3 player, adapter for wiring into your car’s stereo system…there’s too much to list here, but suffice to say there’s a goodly amount of goodness included. And that’s good.
