The Sandman character, who got his own spinoff comic series, just landed a TV show on Fox. And in even better news, the show is being made by the creator behind Californication. This is a perfect match.

Deadline is reporting that the version of Lucifer introduce in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman books has inspired his own TV series. The new show will no doubt be pulling from the already highly engaging DC Vertigo comic spinoff Lucifer (and sharing a title). Here’s the premise: The devil is bored with Hell, so he moves to Los Angeles. Once there, he opens a piano bar. Amazing. Oh, and Tom Kapinos of the excellent LA-based series Californication will be producing for Fox. This has us very, very excited.
