It may not look like the flying power plants we posted about last week, but the M.A.R.S. Floating Wind Generator follows the same concept. The blimp-like craft will be filled with helium and hover 1,000 feet above ground level where it’ll take advantage of the stronger winds to capture energy (which is then transferred back to ground). It’s expected to go into production soon with working models as early as 2010.
