Apple has refreshed its iPad Air lineup with a significant internal upgrade. The new generation brings over the M4 chipset for the company’s MacBooks, introducing a noticeable performance jump while maintaining the same starting prices as the previous models.
While the iPad Air is available for pre-order through multiple retailers, Amazon is already offering an early discount. The 11-inch iPad Air is currently listed at $559, about 7% off its $599 starting price, making it one of the first deals available ahead of its official release on March 11.
Apple’s M4 processor delivers roughly a 30% boost compared with the M3 chip used in the last iPad Air models. That improvement translates into smoother multitasking, faster rendering in creative apps, and quicker performance across demanding workloads.
Memory has also received an upgrade. The base configuration now includes 12GB of RAM instead of 8GB. Extra memory helps keep multiple apps active without slowdowns and supports heavier workloads such as editing large photos, working with layered design projects, or handling complex productivity tasks.
Bandwidth improvements accompany the RAM increase. The new iPad Air features memory bandwidth of up to 120GB per second, a change designed to support modern workloads, including the growing number of AI-powered features appearing in apps and creative tools.
iPad Air Model Breakdown
Storage options remain flexible across both screen sizes. Entry-level models begin at 128GB. Moving up to 256GB raises the price to $699 for the 11-inch model and $899 for the 13-inch. The 512GB tier pushes prices to $899 and $1,099 respectively. Users who need maximum space can opt for 1TB, which costs $1,099 for the smaller tablet and $1,299 for the larger version.
Those prices apply to Wi-Fi models. Adding cellular connectivity will cost you an additional $250 regardless of storage or screen size.
The design language remains familiar, but the available colors add some variety. Space Gray and Starlight return for those who prefer classic finishes. Blue and purple options bring more personality, though both colors lean toward softer, muted tones rather than bright shades.
Customers who pre-order now will also receive a bonus. Apple is offering three months of Creator Studio at no cost. The bundle includes access to a collection of creative and productivity software such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, and other tools aimed at video editing, audio production, and design work.
With stronger hardware, improved memory, and the same starting prices as before, the new M4-powered iPad Air positions itself as a powerful midrange tablet for work, creativity, and everyday use. Pre-orders are live now, and shipments begin March 11.
