Matt Smith is getting back into the genre game and joining up with the very large cast behind Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The twist: he’s not playing Mr. Darcy.
THR is reporting that Smith has signed on to play Mr. Collins, one of Elizabeth Bennet’s suitors. Mr. Collins is a bit of a silly character himself, so we can see why Smith was drawn to this particular role. The coveted role of zombie-slaying Mr. Darcy has gone to actor Sam Riley. The movie is being adapted from Seth Grahame-Smith’s book, a work that imported zombies (described as unmentionables in the book) into the work of Jane Austen. And now it will be a movie because that is the world we live in. Welp, at least it has Matt Smith.
