Despite the rumors you heard, MD is not dead yet. Sony Japan just announced two new MD Walkman (and continues its proud tradition of announcing a new digital audio product the day after Apple does). The MZ-EH70 and MZ-HE50 actually support the Hi-MD format, and feature an HD digital amplifier to reduce noise. Otherwise, these seem to be standard issue Sony MDs (no recording, and they don’t appear to support MP3 playback either). These come out in November in a rainbow of pastels. Price TBD.
