DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, is sponsoring “The Grand Challenge,” a contest where the goal is to build an autonomous robot car that can win a road race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. It’s scheduled to take place a year from now, with a cash prize for the winning team of $1 million. Glad to see that our war time defense budget is being spent to sponsor a road race between robots!
