Mind-Boggling Optical Illusion Graffiti Looks Like It Floats In Mid-Air

Graffiti artist Odeith wanted to make his street art stand out, so he decided to create murals that are also anamorphic illusions. By skewing is images in just the right way and painting “shadows” on the walls and ground, Odeith is able to create designs that look like 3D objects hovering in space.

Not all of Odeith’s street art consists of these illusions, but they are particularly fascinating to look at, especially when you see how he varies the tricks he uses to create them. In some cases, the murals are relatively simple, focusing on perspective and creating a sense of shadow. But sometimes he adds additional details, such painted-on recesses or photorealistic paintings of small objects in order to enhance the sense that we’re looking at something three-dimensional instead of a painting.

You can see more of Odeith’s work on
Instagram and Facebook.
